Perception, whether it is “positive” or “negative” has been an overwhelming factor in the way humanity express their thoughts. Perception is when judgments, opinions or conclusions are made, either from an observation or the assumptions of that specific person, place or thing. For example, mutants for many years are presumed or concluded to be a danger and threat to humanity. There’s a possibility that the individual has made a conclusion based on a specific incident he or she has experienced. Or, maybe the individual could have theoretically assumed such from doubts or fear of the unknown or different.
We’ll never know the “fact” from the “false pretense” of our opinions. You either chose to know or not know the difference between the two. We judge things based on either of these factors alone, and out of curiosity, we observe. Once we grasp knowledge on what we have observed, we form a hypothesis which is through the approach of our 5 senses: auditory, visual, gustatory, tactile and olfactory. Once a hypothesis has been formed from the observation, the individual will began to perceive, believe, or judge the object of their observation based what they’ve seen, tasted, touched, heard, and smelt. One chooses to believe his or her own observations, based on satisfaction, prejudice, indecisiveness, indulgence, or disgust, while others choose to believe the individual’s observations to be astute, erroneous, or sacrilegious. This help set matters for debate.
BATTLE OF PERCEPTIONS
When the actions and judgments of two or more minds are met with indifference, it will lead to debate. Debate is an argument of perception of one human being to another, whether it’s ethics, religion, law, general knowledge or culture. People debate to see whether or not their observations are met with the reception of agreement or dissonance with others. It’s very interesting whether we chose to believe the words of one man over the other man. Whether it’s right or wrong? Well, that’s all a matter of “perception.” The choice is to agree, disagree or show complete dissonance towards those thoughts and actions evoked by an individual. Many have met indifference with violence, outrage or with lack of knowledge or understanding. In the heart of an individual, what was taught to him since the day his mind was able to comprehend his teachings, (whether it’s a certain law, ethics code, conviction of culture) was given to him in order to believe it was either the right or wrong action to take or to live by.
PERCEPTION AND CULTURE
Cultural or religious difference has also affected the way we perceive things that are around us. Think about the cultural differences between you and your fellow civilians. We’re one of the same species, but by racial, genetic codes, and inheritance, we’re separated. We talk, think and act in many different ways. Our language barriers are different. We act according to the culture of which we were taught to consider and live by since the day we were born. From the times of our forefathers, we were taught religion, we were given laws, we were taught how to speak, and how to live according to those laws, religious, political or cultural traditions passed to us through birthright. Perception can be criminally obtuse, hypocritical, destructive, righteous, honest, dishonest, or bigoted. It can either be discussed with the acquaintance of those who’ll either agree or disagree with us.
PERCEPTION OF SOCIETY
Religion, whether it is a man-made morality or a commandment of divinity, it was taught to us. Society creates a manifestation or laws and religious practices that either separates us socially, politically or ethically, or brings us together. Again, the choice is simply that of which the individual chooses to make. But, many have chosen their own way of living, or independence without law or conviction. This however, can lead to a chaotic state of mind for which the individual tends to live without resources. It can be a matter of consequence for an individual to stray away from a society he or she mistrust. They chose to not live under a certain leadership, but their own. They tend to make their own sacrifices, or live by their own indignations. In religion, it creates atheism, in which we chose to believe that a God (or Gods), or anything that is intuitive of the supernatural, to be “non-existent”.
PERCEPTION AND ITS EFFECTS
In law, ethical, spiritual or cultural fallacies can be created. We can either be taught to live by these misinterpretations, or believe that it’s hypocritical or in clear term, “insincere”. Perceptions can be easy or complicated to understand or agree upon. To sum it all up quickly: Perception is a hypothesis of our observations. It’s our judgments, or our opinions. It’s either what was taught to us, or what is presumed by us. This can either be about the world around us, our actions, or the actions of others; it could also be from the fallacies of culture, law or ethics…or from consequences.
